What is Tourette's Syndrome and Tics?
Tourette's Syndrome is a neurodevelopmental condition which is characterized by involuntary movements and sounds known as Tics.
Tics are sudden, repetitive movements or sounds that can be difficult to control. They can vary in frequency, intensity and complexity and can become more noticeable during periods of stress, anxiety, excitement or fatigue.
Tics can cause physical pain, disrupt daily activities and can affect concentration. Living with Tics can sometimes feel frustrating, exhausting and overwhelming. This can result in an impact on school, work and relationships, as well as self-esteem and confidence.

CBIT is a collaborative therapy, tailored to each individuals needs, age and circumstances. This intervention is designed to reduce the frequency and intensity of tics, as well as targeting any impact on functioning.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is used to help individuals with Tics and Tourette's manage the emotional, psychological and behavioural difficulties which can be associated with Tics.
